Insane but insane it is!!! You are just stating what we pre-MY2009 C6 owners have come to realize for years now. AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W90 with extra additive works very well to stop chatter too as I can attest.

I caught your thread late but I also had troubles until I used GM spec fluid. Royal purple gave me peg leg burnouts.

To assuage your concerns regarding the particles, I'd suggest you buy a magnetic diff plug (Ecklers used to sell them, probably still do, they are an odd metric thread that is not easy to find), and see how it looks after a while. You might throw that in the fill plug so you don't have to drain it again.
