Blinking and faulty hvac control/display unit
Hey guys, i have a 2005 c6 corvette base model and within the past couple years my heating and air conditioning control unit and display has been acting up. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, and when it doesn't work the display always flashes and the numbers get all jumbled up. I was wondering if this is a common problem, as well as the best way to correct this. any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
I'm trying to decide if i should get a brand new unit all together or try to find one from a salvage yard thats in working condition. Or who knows maybe they had a problem in some years and were corrected down the road? THANKS GUYS!!

Bad pin or board connection (cold solder joint), or one of the pots for the dials needs to be rebuild or replaced.
How are your soldering skills, since the board is easy to pull out of the controller to go through it to find the bad solder connection or pot.
Quick run down on pots for the dials (both the radio, and the ac controller. The return spring for the pots is a rubber piece that loves to fall apart over time. When this happens, the dials will not want to spring back out correctly, and/or the rubber flaking away from the plunger spring part gets in between the contacts in the pot to cause problems instead.
As for if you want to pick a new one up instead of repairing the old one, then its a AC Delco 15-73932.
Note, pick a new one up, instead of getting a used one. The problem with a used unit is the pots can be wear out, or the silk screening on the buttons are worn away instead.
