2010 won't start
My 2005 is doing exactly this now after I put it away 2 months ago after my last autocross with it.
Car starts, rpm needle cycles once, then shuts off. Never gets to reach idle...
Reduced engine power & CEL, but my code reader doesn't retrieve anything.
Spent 2 days doing all that I've read about and still can't figure out why.
- no wet passenger footwell/electronics
- went ahead and cleaned MAF & checked connector wires.
tried unplugging MAF.
- cleaned Throttle Body & checked connector wires. (doesn't seem to be TB since I can actually rev the engine during the 2 seconds upon starting before it shuts off)
- no corrosion on the 2 ground wires to frame in engine compartment.
- went ahead and filed clean battery connector.
- pulled and checked every fuse in engine compartment.
- filled up with gas before putting it away 2 months ago.
Only other thing I suspected is the battery after 2 months of sitting, but it was strong enough to start the car up couple times.
And trying to start with jumper cables charging for 10 mins gave it the same results.
I took it to 2 different Auto Zones anyway and both stores said it's fine load tested, just needs charge (after starting so many times).
It still starts the car, so battery seems to be sufficient.
I am having the battery full charged this week for my next round of troubleshooting on the weekend.
Would a failed alternator cause this by not providing juice to keep car running? Or would the car stay running at least until it drains out the battery?
I guess I need to check all the fuses in the passenger footwell side and try unplugging replugging all the connections down there...
Was there a simple solution to this?
