Engaging my E-brake today it felt normal for the first quarter of the lever movement, then a little pop, and no tension whatsoever. Lever moves up and down like it has nothing attached to it. It still ratchets Ok but otherwise does nothing. Broken cable I assumed, so I pulled up the boot to look down at the mechanism and I could see the cable coming into the e-brake space and it appears intact there, but when moving the handle up and down there is absolutely no movement of the cable through the tunnel gromlet. I'm guessing something has failed in the mechanism. Has anyone had experience with this problem? and how hard is it to remove the whole mechanism and replace it?
My service manual shows a rather lengthy and involved process to remove the whole e-brake assembly - i.e. seat removal, muffler removal, disengaging adjuster mechanism at drums etc., etc.
Any advice or tips would be very welcome. This may be one I need to turn over to the stealer, but hope not.
