I have a stock LS3 A6 2008 and am interested in the Pro engine builder thoughts about using this head versus the GMPP LS3 head on a DD car. I will be using the Livernois 1C cam ...also/probably a CAI and ZO6 exhaust( no headers as I have been this route and the noise is too much IMHO)..no need to over comment on the expense...I am looking to keep the same smooth power band of the LS3 but up it across the board.
Ive heard from reputable sources that since the heads on the LS3 flow so well its not really worth changing out the heads. I myself only have an LS2 so I dont know how well it actually works but a lot of guys put down some serious power with just a cam and the stock LS3 heads.
As many will tell you, you are going to be choking an engine with Heads and a Cam without headers. In my LS3 even with Catless ARH headers with the NPP closed the car is not that loud. Totally different story with them open.
If you got the Catted X Pipe you would hardly hear it with the stock exhaust until you really get on it. If you absolutely do not want to run Long Tubes, i'd recommend putting a set of LS7 exhaust manifolds on AT Least.
The TF heads MIGHT make 10 more Hp than a set of nicely ported LS3 heads and cost 3 times as much.
