Default X Pipe Question

We are getting ready to cam and put headers on my 07 z51. I have a quick question. I have headers end in 3 inch. We will be running qtp cutout back by the transmission. I plan on running no cats.

My question is if i was to make a short "test" pipe to go from the 3 inch down to the 2.5 stock x pipe would it really make that big of performance difference. It will only be about 3-4 feet of 2.5 before the dumps. Or does it help to have 3 inch all the way back?

Would it be a huge difference I have the flanges and pipe just have to weld them up to make the 3 to 2.5 but if it makes that big of a difference Ill just get a 3" x pipe

I have a 3 inch xpipe on my 08 and ran it at the track open xpipe and trapped 126.x. Then put the 2.5 inch piping on straight piped out the back with some tips and still trapped 126.x.
