Do you have knowledge of Dyad clutches, if so whats your thoughts on them?
I don't want to tell you what to do but if I could make a small suggestion.
You said that you don't drag it often, If you want a stock feeling clutch and one that can handle the bump in performance id say get the Katech LSX9 zr1 clutch and flywheel combo. i have it in mine and it's a great combo street/strip clutch. it can handle 800/800. http://store.katechengines.com/ls9x-...-z06-p184.aspx
Some of the beefier clutches aren't so street friendly. they grab instantly and if you don't feed the gas of the line it could just bite and stall.
I'm not saying they are no good, in fact they are great. Just need to think about what you want from the car and what's important to you.
here's a 1.595 60ft launch (best to date) I'm still a rookie but the ZR1 Clutch makes the learning curve a little better because of its forgiveness.
Similarly, that's supposed to be one of the positives about Monster's setup that uses the new LT1 twin disc clutch + a custom flywheel to make it work on our cars. Supposedly the self adjusting portion is much improved. The camaro guys seem to love them. I'm hoping to have mine back in this weekend after the worn input shaft fiasco so I can give at least a little more feedback on it then.
The triple version I had before drove great.. I just had a nagging rattling noise that was driving me nuts. After tearing it back apart I found the input shaft worn about 0.020" from the original pilot bearing locking up (long before the Monster clutch). I wanted to be 100% sure the noise was gone, so I swapped out some parts to convert it to a twin disk this time around.
I guess my point is.. if you think the LS9 clutch is good, the LT1 based one is supposed to be better
Mantic 9000 is another rather obvious choice.. I haven't seen much of any bad things said about it
Katech LSX9 zr1 clutch and flywheel combo installed on a LS7.
15,000 miles. No abuse. Track and street car.
Two of the rivets failed and destroyed the bellhousing, flywheel, starter, and right header. Other people have had ZR1 clutch failures on modified engines.
