Help, clutch line fried after headers, how do I replace?!
Hi folks, I feel awfully dumb since this could have been avoided by reading on the forum but I just installed some OBX headers and the clutch slave cylinder line is toast. It burned right on the heatshield section which I believe is the bendable part. I see, due to searching that some people have managed to snip the line and add in a new unburned line in its place. Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to do this and what I need to purchase? I REALLY don't want to drop the drive train to replace the whole slave cylinder! I have a 2011 MN6 GS if that matters.
Call cultrag and have them send you a new slave with the line attached. Het some dei heatshielding and snap it back together. You will have to bleed the system though.
The clutch hydraulics are only two pieces. Part 1. Slave cylinder, metal line, soft line w/heat shield, plastic connector. Part 2, connector, metal line, master cylinder.
Is the line actually damaged or does the heat shield just look burned?
If you want to actually replace the line then you'll have to replace the slave cylinder. There is no place to disconnect it between the slave and connection to the master.
The line going from slave to the black plastic connector is one piece:

Unfortunately you have to drop the tranny as the only way to replace that lower section is the clip on the slave... Been there done that, won't do it again ://
