Default Help!! Slipped my clutch

hello all, Hope you can help me out. I was at RPR today , and went to do my first pass. I pull up to the water do a quick spin in first, stop, pop it in second, rev and try to do a burnout. I don't think my wheels turned, and the clutch smoked. It smelled like it did anyways. I notice the pedal was half way up so I pull it up with my foot and pump it a few times. I stage and barely limp it all the way through. I parked it and let it sit, because I knew what I did(z06 vid of clutch burnout). I drove it home and it felt ok. I took it easy but just tried to see if it would slip under power in 2nd and it felt ok. Disengagement is a lil higher.

car is 2008 cpe/ Kooks/tune. 98k on clock (only way I could afford one) did the ranger method about 2 weeks ago, and today before I went to track with fluid that had been opened.

My question is, Did I fubar my clutch, or just glaze it?
and Where in Houston can I get a decent install for a lower price than the reputable shops (as I'm not rich)?

Thanks in Advance and sorry for the LONG ESSAY.

It's pretty common that when this happens you can drive easy for 50 miles or so and resurface the clutch and then be OK, but chances are it'll happen again if you're going to the track. I had mine slip at the track several times and then it was always fine on the street afterwards.

Thanks for the reply, I'm thinking its fine for the street. It felt ok with a few light acceleration bursts in second. I'm just too afraid to get on it now. no more street prowling.

I did same in my C5. Took it easy for a few weeks, went to Cecil and did 12.9 on first run. I'm sure your OK.

My recommendation is to avoid doing the burnout in 2nd gear. The ratios on most tremec 6 speed are way too long or not enough torque multiplication. If you had 3.90 or 4.10 gears it would be just fine.
There's a thread by Jeremy Formatto called how to extend the life of your clutch or something like that. Mine survived quite a bit cam only and after going sc, but I got tired of the unreliability at the track.

keep that fluid flushed, and pump the clutch a few times before the burnout, and then 8-10 times after the burnout.
1st gear is fine, easier to control to

Default 2005 pushing 150K

Had since new...my daily driver, drive it like I stole it regularly!!!
All of a sudden the clutch travel of real engagement is like 2" and engages like a on/off switch. Ideas as to what's failing? Regularly "ranger method" clutch fluid for years.

Look forward to ideas prior to dropping $2K+

Thanks - KT

Amazing. Drained/ changed fluid. I had purchased fluid at NAPA per what their computer said. No Bueno! Think I boiled their crappy fluid!

Thanks. All is good now.
