Ok I have 19in 305 35 in the rear now. But Iam going down to a 18 and wanted to know if a 305 45 would work. I would use it for the track and some street racing but not daily driving. If not what size would fit for the 18 to add some beef. 2008 z51 car is lowred some on stock bolts
The oem 2008 Z51 has 18 x 8.5 front rims and 19 x 10 rear rims. 295 is the maximum width designed for a 10" rim. The 305 needs a minimum of 10.5" wide rim. Installing a 305 on a 10" rim will cause the shoulders of the tire to roll up negating any benefits, actually may cause instability at higher speeds.
Keep in mind, you want to maintain about a 1" more tire diameter to the rear tires to avoid traction control/active handling from going havoc. Choose your tire combinations carefully by researching the tire manufactures diameter.
TSW makes a 10.5" wide wheel with a 65mm offset in both 18" and 19" for the base coupe that will accommodate a 305 rear tire. However, if your car is lowered you might have rub issues because the 65 mm offset pushes out the wheel to the fender edge.

Back tires should be 1.04" larger in OD than the front tires.
So use a tire calculator to figure out the different sizes of the tire front to back, and make sure that back tires are close to 1.04 OD larger than the fronts.
The 305/45-18 is over 1" taller (almost 29" overall diameter) than the 305/35-19. Not sure if that will throw a code on you or not, but something to consider, since I know the TC/AH can go crazy if there is too big of a difference in diameter b/w front and rear tires.
Its a 18 by 10 1/2. so it will throw a code if 1 have a 18 on front and 18 and back. so should I get a micky for my 19 then. I have 305/35/19 on there now nitto 05r but I have zr1 rims so i think they are 10 1/2 to. the reason for going with 18 I need more height on my tire just for the drag strip the 19 dont cut

Seems like this would be a good opportunity for someone to come up with a product that can manipulate the wheel sensor signals to work with other tire sizes.
Iam new to rim and tire sizes. yal have to speak generic with me. is it worth having a 18 for track and if so whats the biggest tire I could go with. Or should i just put a micky r on my 19s 305 35 19 nitto05r what i have now
I'm running 265/35/18 fronts and 295/35/18 rears and haven't had any issues yet up to about 85. I'd prefer a 305 in the rear but I didn't want to daily on drag radials or toyo r888s.
