i just took my car to a local shop and asked them if they can replace my stock mufflers with new mufflers. i have a particular muffler in mind however, the magnaflow 14335s, but since they sponsor thunderbolt mufflers and i can get them at a better price directly through them, i figured id ask if any one has used these on theyre corvette. they claimed they are a direct rip off of the super 40s by flowmaster. should i try these out or spend the little extra for the magnaflows?
Only one question, and how bad are the other mufflers going to "Drone".
Louder is fine if that is your taste, but mufflers that drone at any sound level when cruising will drive you up the wall in no time, ending with you ripping them off the car instead.
Really, since you heart set on 14335s, I would say to hold off and have them installed instead.
Myself since I think that the Borla atak's are just too loud over all, Not a fan of the 14335 sound, favor the Corsa sports instead. When you get on the car, it has the raspier V-10 type note without drone, than just that straight pipe lower/flatter tone of the older 60's cars instead.
Be careful of trying to save too much money because often times you end up disappointed and you spend more redoing the exhaust. Been there, I had a dual bullet axleback. Sounded great but drone got old quickly. Now with heads, cam, headers my car doesn't drone at all on the hwy. I'd be careful of anything flow master or flow master clone since they usually drone and aren't very flowing, plus they aren't stainless.
I had the 14336 mufflers and they were ok, a little drone, not too bad, until I installed headers. Then, they droned so badly I had to get rid of them. You couldn't drive the car, it was horrible.
word well thank you guys and that video helped alot i saw another one with the 14335s on youtube with a white vert. i personaly dont mind loud, but i can see with a corvette how drone can get bad. my (old) 14 gt had a resonator and muffler delete and was loud as hell and didnt sound bad imo but the rear seats and insolation severly helped with the drone as it really didnt but my old vet c5 had muffler deletes and that got obnoxious. and your right with the cost aspect. this is a corvette not a mustang so i plan on saving for the magnaflows, but i also will hear the corsas.however, i will still say 1k for an axle back is pointless, so i will be cutting/pasting, i am just open for good mufflers to try and see if i can maybe youtube some videos on them to see whats out there. any more suggestions guys?

You could get QTP cutouts like I have. I love them and they are a lot less than the axle backs if you can get then installed reasonably.
This will be my next winter mod, low profile cut outs
It's a great mod. I think you'll like them a lot as they let the driver hear it as well, and because they are directed to the ground, they sound deep. Be sure and direct the flow away from the rear leaf spring like I did.
