Default 2008 recall

Brought my car to the dealer for routine maintenance and learned that there was a recall on the catalitic converters. They say they weren't performing as long as they should. Never recieved a letter from GM on this issue.

When I got home I got a call from the dealer saying that my car was recalled and I needed to set up an appointment to get it taken care of. I told them it was already in the shop getting it done.

Turns out they had the cats but not the pipe so they have to keep it until tomorrow

There's a recall for the low beam relay control that I need to take care of. I wonder what they do for the cat recall on a car like mine. I might have the stock manifolds and cats in the basement. I wish I could trade GM for an extra set of metal matrix high flow cats.

Come to think of it, I haven't received anything in the mail from GM about this.

Is the catalytic recall on the 08's the same as the 09's with the addition of two more catalytic converters added?

I don't want to mute my NPP exhaust.

No letter yet from GM for my 08.

The 08 does not get two additional cats like the 09 does. I haven't recieved my letter yet either but a recent vin check came back with an open recall n14523 on my car.

After much research I have decided to wait till this catches up for me with Californaia registration. I have the Z06 manifolds now. This gives me another 15 months. I have already passed with the present system. Supposedly a correction letter is necessary after the recall is performed to be able to register the car in California.

I call my dealer, the recall is mandatory for CA registration. Also, he said the work order replaces the existing catalytic converters and adds two smaller catalytic converters downstream like the 09's.

Has anyone heard differently for the 08's?

From the later I saw on another forum the 2008 do not get the two additional cats.

But until it happens I will be a believer.

Still going to wait till they ask for the correction paper work at my next registration.

So far, only 2008 and 2009. Don't know when the 4 catalytic system started?
