Default Akebono ceramic pads

I've searched here for a good performing low dust pad and these keep popping up.. BUT everything I read says not to run ceramics on the "track"...

Is the track referred to a road coarse?

My car sees road duty and dragstrip some, no road course here, so would these be ok for me?

Yes the "track" referred to is road course, even HPDE in some cases. And yes these will work for your stated use.

The problem with ceramics is they fade pretty quickly when they get hot.....generally from repeated application from high speeds. Slowing down once after a drag strip pass should be no problem.

Akebono = top shelf pads.

I used to run these on my CLS 550......great for 'spirited' driving on the street.....and for daily stop-and-go driving as well.

If these pads were available for my SS......I'd be using them on that car, too.

Yeah I called Akebono yesterday to see if I could source some ceramics for my grand sport. Unfortunately they do not make them yet but said they have plans to.
I'm not happy with the performance of my Carbotech 1521 pads.

Please elaborate on your issue with the 1521.

They are too soft for my taste and don't do very well wet, which I could live with. But the main thing is the loud groaning upon initial bite/release. I made a phone call to Carbotech and they admitted that its just something they do and recommended braking harder It drives me nuts especially for what they cost. So they will be coming off as soon as I can find a suitable replacement.

You might consider the Duralast Gold Ceramic pads (I sourced from Autozone for my 2012 Grandsport)?

$106 total for front and rear pads.

Brake dust is now non-existent compared to the OEM semi-metallic and no more brake squeal.

Akebono pads is one of the best things I've done. No more squealing, no more brake dust. 09 Z51
