I have had a starting issue in my corvette. It does not crank but the battery is not dead. It has happened in the past as well and GM had said it was a security issue. Is there any way to fix this issue at home?

I always start by disconnecting, cleaning and reconnecting the battery terminals 1st.
While I suppose it could be a security issue, there are some far more likely causes. Loose cable or cracked connector at the starter solenoid would be my first guess. Same at battery, but a security issue would be way down on my list...maybe last. If you have headers on the car...the solenoid is even more likely.
If you have a "security issue" with the starter not coming to life, then the DIC should read "No fob detected".
Hence you may have the Fob in your left side pocket and the RCDLR can not see it. This happens to me all the time since I carry my fob in my left pocket and the phone in the right pocket, and when I get the no fob detected message in the DIC when I try to start the car, just need to raise my left hip high enough so the car can see the fob instead.
Also, depending on the phone of other type chargers plugged into the cigarette lighter plugs, this could be causing some interference of why the car can not see the fob as well.
ok .. we need the year of your corvette... if it is 2006-on you do not have a security / steering lock issue ( that was something with the 2005 C6 and also with C5 corvettes )
more than likely your solenoid is failing or has failed... get under your corvette and see if your terminals wiggle or are broken off... easy fix if that is your issue.
I'd guess that two days later, the newby with 6 posts has probably had it towed for $100 to a dealer who charged him $500+ for a new starter, plus $200 labor, when a $40 solenoid or a loose connection was all that was needed. Sometimes people can't answer questions and just pay others to fix stuff they can't explain.
