Default LG pro headers leak like crazy

Installed LG pro Long tube headers to my 2010 GS a few days ago by a professional muffler shop and even had to bring it back due to exhaust leaks, seems to leak everywhere.

He explained to me not much he can do without welding and that just isn't an option I wanted to take. He said it would also be a pain to install if we did.

He let me know it also sounds like a leak inside the collective in Addition to all the leaks at almost every joint.

Has anyone else had any issues with their LG headers?

I do not have headers, but leaks can be fixed.

But first, I would take pictures of the leaks (Blackened in areas of the leaks.) and ask LG what they can do for you.

If for some reason they say they can not help, welding and possibly fly cutting if the flange is not flat, is not the end of the world.

A good shop could address this if it is actually weld leaks. If flange leaks due to a flatness issue, then a machine shop can address that.

Good luck,

DJ

Mine leaked on most of the slip joints. For the longest time i had just wrapped exhaust wrap around them and used wide band clamps and it sealed it up good.

The slip joints where not sealed with slip joint sealer as the exhaust system was being installed.

Before the pipes are slipped together, the ID of the larger pipe is give a coat of slip joint sealer inside it where the smaller pipe will slip into place, then once the two are mated, the band strap is tightened up to bind them to each other, and any slip seal sealer that is exposed on the bar pipes is whip off with a rag.

My installer went with beefier clamps than LG supplied too. And even then, after they heat cycled a few times, I had to get under mine and re tighten a couple of the clamps.

Waiting shipping on Kooks headers. And already have purchased pipe sealant. Just good insurance in my opinion.

Don't like doing any job twice. .......................HK

you have to address 1 leak at a time. The OE gaskets onto the heads work the best, exhaust putty and HD clamps should seal it up. A buddy had problems with his mufflers getting loose and spinning until we changed the clamps.
