air bag symbol comes on stays on, then next time I start it doesn't stay on. Sometimes it comes on every other start, sometimes maybe 4 or 5 times before it comes on. anyone had this problem and any solution besides taking it to local chevy dealer????
Put your drivers seat all the way forward and raise it as high as it will go. Look under the seat and you will see a large plug. It is a common problem that this plug works loose and causes the air bag light to come on. Push the plug back together and you can also add a zip tie to keep it from pulling apart again. Note that it will not be completely unplugged. Just seperated enough to cause the light to display

Thank you very much, I will try that first thing in morning.

Mine came on when I had the belt over the airbag in the seat. I readjusted the belt and it turned off. It must sense pressure on the bag? Only happened once so maybe it was just a fluke for me.
Since yours is a re-occuring issue, i'd look at that plug under the seat first. Especially if you are moving the seat around alot. Check passenger side also, (if you ever move that, I leave mine back all the way and almost never move it).

thank you as well, didn't think to check passenger side will do that also
My airbag light came on this morning driving in to work. It went off, then came back a couple of times and finally stayed off. I have the seat set up to move back when I shut the car off, so it's always being moved. I'll check the plug tonight.
My 08 has the same problem for yrs.The yellow plugs are tight and secured well to the bar, but that did not fix it.The service manager at the dealer said there is no fix that he knew of, so I just live with it.

does anyone have a picture of the plug? Mine comes on everytime i get on it pretty hard.
thanks
For the guys where it comes on when you get on it hard, that's been tracked down to the airbag sensor (passenger side of radiator) flapping about in the breeze and has been repaired by others by simply tying the sensor up better so it doesn't move so much.

Good luck!
What does that sensor look like? I do a petal to the metal at times so that would be the next thing to screw with.My light comes and goes.
Just a note, the airbag system has bright yellow connectors throughout the car and I believe this is standard for all car makes to allow mechanics to know how important these connectors are. Moving the drivers seat fore and aft often will increase the likelyhood of connector problems under that seat. I know it shouldn't, but it is what it is and it does. We need to deal with the situation as it is, not as we would like it to be.
