The flywheel holding tool is probably a safer bet, though.
I used 6th and parking brake. Once the drivetrain slack was taken up, it held no problem with the rear wheels off the ground.

Should work fine. Just don't let it roll over you

Yep that's why I put the rear on jackstands. Didn't want to try it for the first time and have the car roll off the front jackstands.

Might just be my tall jack stands, but the front was too high without raising the rear for me to work comfortably, but no reason it won't work.

Yes, I did remove the fan since it is easy to get a little more room for an impact wrench to remove the crank bolt.

take a small torch to the crank pulley bolt and get it hot. there is a sealant(not lock tite, think red RTV) on the back side that doesnt like to let go of the crank snout. 4' breaker bar wouldnt budge it so I got out the 450ft. lbs. impact and that wouldnt budge it until I heated it up, then it came off no problem.

I dont believe you can without dropping the cradle. And I dont even think it will come out the passenger side without dropping the cradle either(maybe with a lot of cussing and banging you can). The actual steering gear on the drivers side of the rack is in the way of going out the small hole. You can maneuver it out the passenger side far enough to work with the pulley.

It wil come out the drivers side. Last time I did it the cradle may have been lowered a little bit, but it would have only been an inch or so at most. The PITA is from the brake lines and the ABS pump being right in the way..

The easiest way (IMO) is to push it towards the passenger side. It won't come out that way, but it will get out of the way enough for you to do whatever you want. I did it that way when I changed the cam on mine.

This is exactly the way I did it, as you can see in my last cam swap.

The video says to drop the cradle 1/2" to get the rack to come out the drivers side..There are a couple good videos on "YouTube" showing how to do the job .....WW
