It's most likely you will not get acceptable relief by adding a "silencer" type of muffler or resonator. I tried it on my Avalanche and while it helped a little, I ultimately got rid of the cat-back and went back to stock. Granted, the muffler that was on it was a Hooker Max-Flo, which is a straight-through design but I did tons of research and it was NOT supposed to drone. It gave me a headache if I was on the highway for more than an hour. It droned horribly from about 1600-2200 rpm; once I got above 80 mph it quieted down but traffic was usually too heavy to run that fast for any amount of time. The same setup I had in a friend's stock Avalanche (CAI only) sounded great, with no drone. The guy I sold my setup to, also with a stock truck, loves it and again it has absolutely no drone.
The Avalanche has a CAI, is Magnacharged (pullied down), cammed, stalled, and has 4.10's. The difference was obviously the additional mods on my truck that created additional intake and exhaust flow way beyond stock. I've debated adding exhaust cut-outs but just haven't decided to pull the trigger yet.

For whatever reasons same type vehicles respond differently with same systems. A few years ago I put Corsa Sport on my wifes Yukon Denali and sounded like running straight exhaust with massive drone. Of course one of Corsa's saying is absolutely no drone. I never heard the end of it. Needless to say it came back off!
