Has anyone had issues with a C6 flywheel? How difficult is the repair? I am mechanically inclined but not familiar with the torque tube set up.
Dealership says Flywheel broken or failing. Estimate is just under $1400.00
The car: 2006 base coupe, no engine mods, A6, 83,000 miles
Symptoms:
2800-3000 rpm a slight vibration begins and continues
3000-3500 rpm noise begins that sounds like a heat shield rattle
I don't know if it goes away at higher rpms.
I have spent 2 months making sure there isn't anything loose to rattle.
The car runs fine as long as I stay below 2800-3000 rpm
I'm going to another dealership for a second opinion. But that will be after new years.

There's almost nothing that can actually go wrong with a flywheel on an A6 car as it looks like this:
With that many miles the more likely cause of the problem is the internals of the torque tube have worn out.
You still need to pull everything from the motor back though in order to fix it.
The O ring gives it a little bit of give.. but the bearing goes in that opening
That's why I told you to pull on that shaft and try to pull the bearing into that hole with the o-ring. It looked like it had somehow been pushed out in the video you posted (I'm assuming that was you anyways.. the names are running together right now)
