2009 Z06. Currently installing VR SC-1R lower air box sits up against trans cooler, any comments on this, don't wish to complete install without checking this OK or not? Please advise.

Thanks.

If the inlet portion of the box is pushed far enough into the silicon coupler it should not be up against the cooler. I recently put this system on my C6 Z51 and a customers 07 Z06 and it was close on his but not up against the cooler. In the last few years, the quality of the Vararam box has improved and after 14 installs, I've yet to have anyone have issues with them.

Thanks for your comment, I will try this, however if it still up against cooler do you think this is an issue? there is not much room to play with!!!

Thanks.

The box material is pretty tough and shouldn't be affected by the heat transfer from the cooler. I'd call Vararam Industries and ask if they are aware of any reports of the box being damaged from prolonged contact just to be on the safe side before you complete the install.

The last 6 I installed were C6 (Z51's & Z06's) and the only defect I saw was one hold down tab was slightly off center. Just a variance in the manufacturing, but did not affect clipping or sealing. There may be a minor manufacturing issue with the box you have. Does the box sit flat on above the shroud ?

Another option would be to see if you can lower the cooler a little, if there's enough play in the mounting points.

The box does not fit flat have to push it downward to achieve this, have tried calling vararam , also emailed them, must we closed will try them Monday, being in Australia doesn't help either with time difference.

I have managed to get Air box from touching oil cooler by removing 2 top mounting bolts and cut away shroud behind top oil line and angling cooler back then tighten up lower bolts and leave out top ones, it is secure enough without them. not much clearance, however got to be better than in constant contact, also had to cut away mid section or top of radiator shroud to get neat level fit to intake, and also from fouling on hood, thanks for your assistance, now to get few miles up and then do tune.

mine rubs on my 08Z.
had it out last week after being in there for a year, nothing but witness marks, I wouldn't sweat it.

Thank you for your comment, are you pleased with performance, I was pleased with my previous C5 with this system, hoping it will also be same with C6.
