Default Front shock problem

Hi All, Replaceing the stock Z51 shocks for DRM Bilstien's.
Rears, off and on no issue. Started to do the right front,
removed the top nut and both bottom fasteners. Iam
trying to compress the shock to put wire to hold it in a
compressed position, but the thing will not compressed.
I have replaced a bunch of shocks before but never had
one that wouldn't move. Iam lost, any suggestions?
Thanks

maybe the shock is Bad, try turning the shaft a half turn and then try again.

Been about 8 years, but I had trouble compressing mine as well. I took the two bolts that hold the upper control arm and installed them that way.

I am not saying that you don't have a bad shock, but I do recall having issues compressing the front Bilsteins.

Jack directly under the A arm, that should compress the shock.

Thank you all for your advise. Useing a jack under the lower A arm as 54fighting said,
and loosing the upper A arm as timd38 said,I was able to remove the Z51 shock and
installed the right front Bilstien. Now onto the left side.
Thanks again guys

I did the same thing, then when it was compressed, I tie wrapped it so the shock wouldn't extend again, then I removed the jack, leaving lot's of room to maneuver the compressed shock out of the space.

I have to tell you that taking the two bolts out that hold the upper control arm on does not require you to compress the shock to get it in. Like others said, you bolt it in and then jack the lower control arm up.
