Default Intermittent tick

2008 c6z. I started to get an intermittent grill lighter sounding tick coming from the engine. Not continuous. will happen say 10 times a min once the car is warm. It's not really loud but I can definitely notice it outside the car. Coming for the 5.0 coyote community this is normal to me as they are notorious for ticking. Is this normal for an ls7? Or should I get it checked?

Thanks!

I heard a similar tick when a coil wire worked its way loose. Give them a check.

A lifter will usually tick with each revolution of the engine , not just sometimes, but I never rule anything out....I would make sure it's not a fuel injector going bad and ticking, or one of the accessories on the engine making the noise..Get a stethoscope or use a long screwdriver to your ear to check out exactly where the noise is coming from..Once you locate the noise , it will be easier to figure out what it could be...If you think it may be one of the accessories making the noise, you can remove the serpentine belt from the motor for a short time to see if it still makes the noise....WW

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to buy a stethoscope today and I will check coilwires. The tick does seem to be coming from bottom half of the engine...

If the ticking is coming from the bottom under the head, it may be an exhaust gasket leaking..An exhaust gasket leak can make a ticking noise that sounds just like a lifter.....WW

That's what I'm thinking. I just swapped heads a month ago and haven't rechecked all the torque on manifold bolts. Would an exhaust leak have intermittent tick?
