I'm new to the C6 and LS platform, so please be patient.
I have a 2012 GS.
I am installing CAI, cam, push rods, truniun upgrade, Kooks 1 7/8 headers and X pipe with no cats, but I am going into the stock axle backs.
I like the relatively quiet sound of the stock mufflers opposed to the noisy aftermarket setups.
My question is, is this common to do?
I mean, I know most people like the loud pipes, but are there folks that do it the way I want too, and does it rob HP from what I would normally gain on an aftermarket setup?
LS3 430hp ---NPP mufflers +6hp total 436 hp ==== 4 tips two center tips have a valve in them. Lets exhaust out sooner making it louder with more hp. Go figure !!!
I had npp and loved them but went heads and cam with 1 7/8 primaries and 3 inch x pipe so changed the axel back to 3 inch Corza sport no cats and is loud behind the car but no drone and no radio needed as my 8 member band provides all my favorite tunes and amazing rythim true quad channels/loud speakerz there ain't no better tunes and the pps? gone for good siriously.
Mine is z06, but they do neck down to 2.5 either way at the mufflers.Friend is making 1490rwhp on stock z06 system. I don't see the 2.5" having any issue even at 1000rwhp.

Wow that's amazing guys. I never knew that. I was going to go with different 3in mufflers, but I'll just keep the NPP if they do that well!

Hi SLEEPERBUSA, it is not uncommon for folks to run similar setups as discussed, to factory mufflers. Like you said, that will be the quietest way to do it. It will affect your performance numbers, but minimally. If you lose 10hp from having stock axelback on 500+ rwhp that's really not too much.
