Default Sway Bar End Link

I have a 2005 C6 Z51 vert in which I replaced stock end links with aftermarket end links to eliminate the clunking noise that occurs on turns going over bumps. Well, while driving the car slowly over bumps I noticed the noise came back but much louder. I took off the left front wheel and saw that the link snapped off at the knuckle (see pic)

What causes the this and does anyone have any recommendations as to a stronger end link?

the GM end links have been improved to correct the problem we had with the stock units. I put the GM links in about 18 months ago and they are silent. They were about $35.00 each. I have also heard that MOOG makes a good replacement.
Not sure what could have caused yours to snap. Did you over torque them? They are designed to move and over tightening could cause your problem. If I recall, torque for those nuts was about 38#.

I have never seen an adjustable endlink set up that short before; if the other side was installed that short, the bar would likely have been extremely preloaded which could have contributed to the failure

what brand of endlinks were you using?

Moog ain't what it used to be. I constantly replace moog parts under warranty at work. Stay with your oem product if they've been good to you

Looks like a very stiff setting for sure.

That's what I was thinking as well. It probably jammed the nut against the helm joint body and snapped.

yeah, preload from improper adjustment would by my guess.

I have big sway bars and moog endlinks, so cheap and no clunks yet. I'm still looking for generic adjustable ones, I'm not paying the corvette tax on such a simple part.

It snapped on the outsde of the jamb nut - no way for over torquing the nut could cause a failure there.

I suspect the end was too short and the link went into bending because of the angle and eventually work hardened and then faled with a brittle fracture.

A photo of the fracture face would be helpful to determine the cause.
