Default Kooks wth ?????!

Ok what happen to kooks headers ? I had a set on my c5 and hands down best header ever and planned on buying a set for my c6 but not so sure now ! My buddy just got a set for his c5 and the headers seem to be built not as good as the old design . They have some ball flange set up to hook up the x pipe they use to have two bolt flanges and the headers don't seem to be made out of the same thickness tubes seemed real light and thin tubes so now I'm second guessing buying the kooks. No offens kooks but you seem to have made a China brand header not good in my book !

For my 2013 Grand Sport, I went with ARH. They could get me the price I could swing with ceramic coating...The Kooks headers I bought back in the day for the 2008 Coupe before were top notch though. I bought them through Maryland Speed. They were ceramic coated with Airborn Silver Jet Coat before I even saw them.

I prefer ARH over Kooks but they are still a top notch brand. Kooks are made with 18 gauge steel and have 3/8 thick flanges so the odds of being different than the c5 ones are very slim as those specs havent changed. They are also still and have always been made right here in the US at Kooks.

I have Kooks on both of my vehicles and they fit and perform great. The ball flange is an excellent connection for removing and reinstalling without leaks. I see no reason why you wouldn't be satisfied with Kooks.

My buddy's came right out of the kooks box and has the badge welded on the tube. They just seem cheap now and not on price lol his c5 headers from my c5 headers are two different products I don't think I'll be buying kooks looking at his such a shame kooks had to mess up a perfect header !

I just ordered and received Kooks and they look like incredibly quality pieces. They're also quite heavy, too heavy in my opinion. I couldn't imagine purposely wanting them to be thicker and even heavier.

I agree with the above statements, (including my own). Did your buddy contact Kooks and confirm authenticity or at least voice his concerns? This doesn't sound like the normal opinion most have with Kooks. Do you have any pics? But if you're that dead set against them now, go with ARH. Another excellent brand.

My buddy's headers are true kooks I'm just comparing his new headers to my old set from kooks I personally don't like the new flange set up where the x pipe hooks up truly believe the two bolt flange set up was a better design and the headers just seem like they are a cheaper design from the old stuff

The old Kooks C5 headers took 12 hours to install. The redesigned the new ones and they install in 2-3 hours. They do have the new clamp over the connection, some people like it and some don't. It does give more ground clearance. Every car I had the old two bolt flange on, the flange was scraped up.
