Default Check engine light keeps coming on

Just bought a 2012 with kooks headers and a corsa exhaust. Check engine light comes on after 2 or 3 days every time I reset it. Dealer says it's the exhaust system. any way to fix this? Thanks for any help.

I vote for a loose gas cap, given the lack of any other evidence.

I just got it and haven't learned how to pull codes yet. Can it be done like you do it on a C5?

More than likely the O2 sensor wires
or the exhaust is catless
either way go to a tuner and delete the codes problem solved

What does "checking" the gas cap mean? Just because you think the cap is secure doesn't mean it is.

This is a common problem.

If this actually turns out to be the problem he will be too embarrassed to let us know that.

you can get a ODBII code reader and it will tell you for sure which code is being throw ( many auto parts stores will tell you the exact code for free )

but with that said, being you have headers, I agree it is likely related to your O2 sensors ( or lack of ) that is triggering it. You can tune that code away.

Go to your local parts store and they will pull the code for you.

a 15$ dongle and a smart phone will allow you to pull the codes. Search the app store for "OBD" and find an app that calls for an ELM327 dongle, Then grab a dongle from the big river.

You need to first make sure the car was tuned after they installed the headers. The longtube headers relocate the o2 sensors a lot further downstream and the car needs to be tuned to achieve a correct air fuel ratio. Even if the car has high flow cats it will still throw a code, a tuner can simply disable the rear o2's. Either way make sure the car has a custom tune on it for the headers or it will never run to its full potential.
