Hi All,
I'm new to the forum but have a question. Should I get my C6 dyno tuned after I install my Corsa cat-back and K&N cold air intake ? I've been getting conflicting answers from several car friends that I have and I don't want the engine to run too lean.
Thank You

For the Corsa cat-back no tune necessary. With K&N cold air intake, the ECM will adjust for more air and add fuel at part throttle speeds (closed loop) up to about 25%, then it will throw a code. However, any additional fuel (+LTFT's) added at part throttle will carry over to WOT (open loop). The ECM at WOT has a set tune value and does not adjust as you drive. That additional fuel will add to an already rich A/F ratio that was tuned from the factory. Rich A/F ratio can lead to carbon build up. In this case, more is not better.
If you plan on installing more mods, i.e. headers, cam, heads, etc., then I would wait. If not, a tune will benefit the K&N air intake. Also, there are other adjustments a good tuner will do to improve overall drivability.
Is the car still under warranty? There is a good chance a tune will void your power train warranty.

Just to be clear, the K&N is not a CAI, but just a filter change in a different box. The reason it runs slightly leaner, is because it doesn't filter as well.
I wouldn't bother with a tune until/unless you do something that'd make a bigger power difference than an air filter and muffler.

don't waste your money on a Tune until you do something of a substantial change. Changing your air filter is not substantial.

What would you recommend I get (or don't bother to get) for a true CAI ?
I don't drive the car hard, but I am interested in optimizing it's potential.

Vararam if you're serious or the $2 propped shroud and possibly topped with a Halltech Beehive if you just want more fun for less money. Do searches here for lots of information from racers who look for power vs mfg dyno results who look for $$$. AKA results vs advertising.
