I've had an SLP under drive pulley for 8 years now. I did get the Service Charging System when I first put it on, but I turned off the code with HP Tuners and I no longer get the code or annoying chime, and my car charges just fine. A few people get the Service Charging System when they install under drive pulleys, turning off the particular code stops the message and chime and has no ill effects based on my and others' experience.

On functionality differences, I don't know.
I've had no issues with my UD so I figured I might as well try and squeeze out a few more ponies with another UD version. I wasn't sure if the philosophy has changed over the years.
ATI says the aluminum will be a little lighter but there is no functionality difference between aluminum and steel. The underdrive only comes in steel so I guess I'll be ordering that version.
Save some coin and get a blem unit from ATI's eBay store...........and pin the crank while you're at it.
Thanks I checked but they don't have the version I need. I just spoke with my tuner and they're ordering it and they'll swap it out when I go back for the final tune. All in all I'm only out about $350-400 over if I had done it during the rebuild. Not bad for peace of mind after reading what some others have gone thru.
