Default Racing seats, mounting height.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out on this, I've got a 2011 Grand Sport that I just started tracking, I'm 6' tall and have a longer torso and when I put my helmet on it hits the roof. I have to put my seat in its lowest position and slightly recline it to fit. Now that I'm getting better at driving im experiencing much more Gs in the turns and the stock seats have me sliding all over the place. I just bought some new Cobra Sazuka race seats after trying many of them on, they are awesome and fit my wide shoulders perfectly. They are fixed seats so they don't recline. The guy at the shop I bought them from said I would need to buy the fixed mounts without a slider, as the slider will raise the seat a bit higher than without. I agreed to sacrifice the slider but haven't installed the seats yet and the more I think about it the more I want the slider feature. When I race the car I like to sit with the wheel as close to me as possible, but in the street I want to be far away. ( I also bought a 6 point roll bar and 6 point harnesses as well to go with the seats just FYI)

Doe anyone have experience with race seats in the C6? And using the sliders? Will they be the same height, higher or lower than the stocks? The sliders are 350$ each and I got seats for both driver and passenger to match, and I think after I install them they can not be returned so any input would be greatly appreciated.

We are not familar with Cobra seats as we do not handle Cobra. If they are side mount seats look at this setup. Now all sliders are going to raise the seat height and you may or will lose head clearence. You would need (1) of each per seat

They are side mount, and I know they raid the seat above the night of a fixed mount, but what would it be compared to the stock seats? If I use your slider will my seats sit higher than my stock seats, lower or the same?

I was also curious as to where I could get a "map sensor" or "emulator" for the seat wiring. I think someone makes some type of plug in for the wiring harness for the set belts and air bags? When I put the new seats in I don't want warning lights. Can anyone help with this as well?

We have everything you need airbag plug switch $45.00, seat belt eliminator $28.00. The seats with sliders will be close to stock height maybe a little higher don't know exactly as it will vary with the angle uou put the seat at and the seat layback to begin with.
How do you plan to mount your 6 point belts? You may need a lap belt bracket so you can mount your sub and lap belts. The lap belt bracket bolts to the rear seat mount bolts and they are $145.00.
If you'll pm us we can get you everything you need and send you a paypal invoice

I had a similar problem, but resolved it a different way. I simply swap out the driver's seat to match the requirement of the day.

I made my race seat fixed to the position I wanted, but with a slight front to rear adjustment (slots for bolts attaching the seat to the mount) to dial in the last 1/2" +/-. When I did the design, I chose to make the mounting utilize the same studs as the OEM seat to make the swaps simple and without needing additional floor reinforcements. My shoulder harness stays attached to the rollbar and hangs behind when the OEM seats are in, but the lap belts and sub belt are attached to the seat mount to avoid needing removal when swapping seats. It takes less than 10 minutes to swap seats. The airbag light comes on, but no other distractions.

One other thing to consider is the major hassle of buckling up a 5/6 point harness for your daily driving vs the one click with OEM belts.

What kind of mounts did you use? Do you have any pictures?

I used 1"sq x .065 wall steel tube for most of it and .060 sheet for the base. My race seat is a bottom mount. I'm drag racing, so weight is the enemy. I've considered doing it over in aluminum to save a few pounds, but I'd lose some strength.

I'll take some pics tomorrow.

Sorry for the huge delay, but here's the pic of the seat mount. As you can see, I initially missed the location for the adjustment slots and had to drill new holes. The sub belt and lap belts stay attached to the seat frame and the frame attaches to the OEM studs in the floor.

It's a quick change from race ready to street comfort.
