I have a 2013 427 convertible. I want to install my HRE aftermarket wheels without having to pull the sensors from my stock wheels. The HRE's don't have sensors. Does anyone know if this will cause issues? I've read conflicting information on the web and forum. Anyone know with 100% certainty if the car can be driven without sensors or will this cause it to go into limp mode?
I don't think they go into "limp mode" but there are limitations.

That time period is about 30 minutes for a 2008-2009, and about 20 minutes for a 2010-2013. That time period is without shutting down the car - every time you start up you'll have another period of time.
If you drive for the period of time for your model year, you'll get a "Service Tire Monitor" DIC message. The car will act differently depending on the model year - earlier cars seem to be less forgiving.
When you get that message, the earlier cars wil not be able to be put into Comp mode or turn AH off completely. The later model years are reported to be more forgiving of running with no sensors.
If you disconnect your battery the TPMS will lose those last known pressures and you may have problems immediately after starting up the car.
I cant say for certain here but it seems to be its an issue IF the senos fit the new wheels. If they don't, you could always get a TPMS delete. Good luck

I am frustrated by the conflicting information "out there" on the effects of running no tire pressure sensors or low tire pressure for drag radials on my 2012 GS. This is also the case on the impacts of drag pack wheel / tire combo rear / front tire diameter differences that are greater than stock on the Active Handling / Traction Control systems. The "information" ranges from "no problems at all" to the dreaded "triggers limp mode". You mention "100% certainty"- I would take 51%! I guess the GM engineers were just too good at locking the TPMS and AH/TC modules so the gearheads wanting to get around the nannies can't do it. I sure wish my "new" C6 was nice and simple like my "old" C5 that has none of these issues.
I am now convinced I just have to bite the bullet and buy the wheel / tire combo I want with no TPMS sensors and see what happens. It's only money, right?

There are TPMS delete kits out there, if you need help searching for something that works just PM me. I'd be happy to help.
I can only speak 100% from my personal experience I've had with my '08 A6 F55 coupe. YMMV
I've driven somewhere in the 8-10K mile range without sensors in any wheels and at speeds well into the upper triple digits. I've made somewhere around the 350-450 passes down the 1/4 mile without sensors in my DR's and probably 150 passes without sensors in the front wheels also.
Although, I never turn off AH or comp mode, I do turn off TC at the track and anytime in excess of 158 MPH.
The only time my car ever got into limp mode, was after driving more than 30 miles with the wrong size ratio (front to rear) tires and no sensors. Shutting down and restarting reset the system to get the last two miles home and change wheels/tires.
I have known people with no problems and some with problems, they sticks just get the xx and hit reset, i had a problem and tried all different things, mine can go months with no problems and hundreds of miles away until i jump on it hard then the problems happen so i just keep the canister with the sensors in the car and no problems
