C5 Diff Swap ???'s
I have one of the infamous 05 m6 peanut brittle differentials.....and Im looking at a swap. Ive narrowed it down to the 3-rib c5 diffs. I found one from an 01 z06 and one from what I assume is an auto c5 (3.15 ratio). I just want to verify that I can use the auto style diffs if I choose. Also I remember seeing a couple members making adapter plates to mount the c5 diff in a c6 cradle. Hopefully they are still on here I would be interested in one....I could prob fab something but Id rather use something I know is a good piece. I currently have an ls2 with cam full exhaust vararam and nitrous outlet kit. I dont want to run the nitrous until I do something about the diff. Rather be safe than sorry.

I don't "think" you can use the auto diff as the trans output shaft maybe splined differently. I know in C6 diffs that is the case and I will assume the same to be true for the C5 diffs too. Were you planning to change the gears out in the auto diff to 3.42 or higher?

Yes I planned on going 3.73 when I do it. I was just curious as I figure a z06 diff prob received a little more abuse than a base model or auto...I am not sure myself about splines. My intention is full rebuild (ring and pinion, hardened shafts, bearings and races) before install so I would imagine that would remedy any potential input shaft differences if they are in fact different. I just don't wanna get involved in 06+ stuff because then I'm changing the case on trans.....lot more then a c5 swap
