My corvette with LS3 was ticking for several weeks.Checked the wires to make sure they were on good.Thought it might be an exhaust leak because it came and went.
Car ran fine but seamed like sometimes it had more power then others.
But I thought the difference was because I wasn't going as slow when I kicked it down and maybe it just was a lower gear.
Put new headers on it.It was the same.
Car finally started running rough and was shaking on my way to the house today.Service active handling came on.Got to the house pulled it in the garage and opened the hood while it was running.Looked to see if I could see sparks.Nothing!
Pulled the plug wires near the ticking noise with a tool that's made for this.On the second try the car smoothed out.So it's running smoother on seven then eight.
Grabbed a spare oem wire and replaced the offending wire.Runs smooth with no loud ticking ,has a lot more power and service light is out.
check your oil level. maybe an oil leak? in my 2014 mustang it started making a ticking noise and it was because the car had an oil leak and almost had no oil in it.
