I purchased z06 leafs for my base c6. The rear leaf was an easy swap. The front leaf spring I was having trouble removing it. I found this diy http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=20
I removed the bolts for the upper control arm, the lower mounting shock, and the leaf spring bolts. The leaf would budge when I took all of that off. The diy mentions taking off a caliper to allow the drivers side lower control arm to drop more. Has anyone else tried this or found a different method to be successful? Thanks!
If I remember correctly when I did mine....undo the sway bar links (one end of link on each side), if your adj bolts are not frozen you want to run those all the way in or remove them, remove the caliper. It will take a little manipulating but it will slide out. Installing it is tricky as the spring needs to be preloaded to line the rubber mounts up with the clamps. I installed it loose, lowered the front end into a color or 2x10s, and then tightened the clamps.
it's been awhile, but it seems like that's what I did when I swapped out the front spring. I also sprayed the rubber pad with WD40 so it could slide better when tightening everything up, and spin better when adjusting for height. I had one pad tear in half once when getting everything tight, and had to take it all apart again to replace the bolt & pad. Just glad I had a couple of spares.
be sure to replace the sway bars if you haven't done that already.
