Default Help Identify Missing Sensor

Hello all,

I am at a loss here. Trying to look at a few harnesses and can't quite figure out what these wires used to go to.

The two bare wires come out of the harness along with the CAM Sensor Plug.

Any ideas?

Not near my car to look, but could it be for the coolant temp sensor on the driver side head?

I don't believe so. These are too short to reach there and I think that hardness comes off the same bundle as the fuel injectors.

The colors trigger in my mind a ground wire missing the looped ends. You could ohm them out and see if you have continuity with the ground. My car is at work with me and I will take a look.

OK... took a look and they seem to be bundled together but I can not see where they attach to, as it come off the harness in the lower front driver side. They seem to be headed towards the lower left front timing cover or the lower left front of the oil pan. Would need to jack the car up to see clearly. The temp sensor wires have different colors so I don't think that is at all, also the positions are not right. FYI My car is 2006.

Also, looking at your wires they look like they had been crimped together possible, so I don't think they got pulled out of a plug connector.

I appreciate you taking a look for me. Mine in a 06 as well, and when I took my motor out, I didn't notice that anything was missing. Now, buttoning everything back up, I am beginning to find little details here and there.

I did find a clear picture on eBay, finally, of a wiring harness out of the car. Thinking it may be this plug? I can't think of where it'll go though.

No problem..

You'll find it, as it looks like the wires got accidently pulled out of something.

I'm getting mine in the air today so I'll try to find them on mine. Just to make sure I'm seeing this right...are both of those wires black with yellow stripe? One of them appears to be white but I can't tell because the rest looks a little yellow.

Good man...

That's what it looks like on my car, but I can't get super close to it laying on my back, black with a yellow tracer.

Really do appreciate it. It'll be easy to spot as one of the wires goes the the cam sensor located on the drives side of the front cover.

Wires are black w/ yellow stripe and the other is black w/ white.

Got home later than I thought and will confirm but from feeling around down there and what I could see with a flash light I think it is a ground on the engine block near the pan below the PS pump.

I'll get a light on it when I can after dinner but that's what I got for now!

Awesome man, I really do appreciate it. Weird that a ground would have two wires though.

No worries! I had a lift installed and just got what I need to actually get the vette in the air so I needed an excuse!

Also, that was from blindly feeling around so I could be way off base and probably shouldn't have even posted but I'll get it right lol

I've been racking my brain all day trying to figure this one out

Any possibility it's for a knock sensor? I can't think of anything else that uses a connector similar to that

I think I felt it out right earlier. The leaf spring makes a good pic hard to get, but you can see the colors of the wires on this ground. Just for frame of reference the cam sensor plug is to the left, and that is the bottom right bolt on the timing cover as well as the front most oilpan to timing cover bolt.

I should probably mention that my car is a 2012 so the harness may be slightly different in shape right there but I'm pretty sure this is what you're missing anyway.

Also gratuitous "I was finally able to pick up the vette with my lift" pic. Gotta be thankful for hockey pucks right now! And don't laugh too much at my LeMons car

Didn't they put the knock sensor under the intake manifold?
I remember that the LS1 had them there, but have not seen one on the LS2.
Edit: Think I found them on the sides of the blocks.

Sevinn got a great shot of the ground connection for the two wires on the front of the engine, right next to the timing cover.

Nope, not the knock sensor as that is a little before the cam sensor on the harness

You are the man! Absolutely perfect. Looks like it is a ground wire. I owe you an imaginary beer!

Also, I am super jealous of your lift and garage. I get the unfortunate pleasure of working on jack stands in a 2 car garage.

No worries I was gonna be testing it out anyway!

We moved last year and my only requirement was that the house we pick have a shop that a lift would fit in, so the wife could pick whatever she wanted...I finally saved up enough to get it in there. Can't wait to actually need it! I had been working on stands outside under the carport at the previous house and this one until now as well so I definitely know how it is.

Good luck with your project!
