Default Borla exhaust

I have a 2010 GS vet with dual mode exhaust. I'm looking at getting the Borla Rear Section Exhaust S-Type II. Can anyone give me comments about Borla systems; plus or minus.
Thanks

When I put a Borla exhaust on my 2000 FRC it was very good for fit, finish and performance gains for the money I spent. I used their x-pipe and straight back pipes from there. I would recommend you listen to exhaust samples first online or check out a friend's car that has the exhaust you are interested in just to make sure you like what you are getting sound wise.

Stingers on my c5 and c6. Best sounding exhaust out there in my opinion. Not for the faint of heart though. It's not quiet. But this is a sports car and I like my sports cars loud.

I just put a Borla ATAK system with X-pipe on my 07 coupe. The exhaust brings the car to life! The sound it makes is great. You can now hear the exhaust as you increase RPMs vs just hearing the engine. The pops and burbles when you let off the throttle sound amazing. Though it highlights how long it takes you to change gears!

I have done some highway cruising in 6th gear with no drone. It sounds like stock while on the highway. Even when you get on the throttle at 40mph in 6th it sounds good.

After I installed it I took a drive with the windows down and I thought the exhaust was very quiet. I got home and the first thing my wife said was that it was loud. She could hear me turning off of our street and getting into the throttle a bit. In the car with the windows down it is only slightly louder than stock. In the car with the windows up you can definitely hear it more. The aggressive sound makes me up-shift more often instead of hanging out at around 3k.

So far I am loving this exhaust! I wish I had done this back when I first bought the Vette!!!

I had the Borla Stingers on my '10 coupe, and the sound was jaw droppingly amazing. A bit of drone, but I never gave it a second thought.
I've recently installed the axle-back Borla Atak on my '13... the open NPP was louder at idle and during acceleration (inside the car). It's a bit disappointing...
Surprisingly, the s-type on my '15 SS is louder and more aggressive sounding.

Ditto, if you are going for more sound, then the Borla ATAK is the ticket.
At start up, it will turn heads, and at full tilt boggy, it's loud with a great note.

As for not as loud, but has a more V10 crisp to the exhaust note instead, then the Corsa sport instead.

Note, neither of the two will drone like a cheaper ricers car with huge can muffler on the back of it.

I have the old style Borla Stingers with cam and LT's on my 08 and LOVE the sound. I get so many complements on the sound of it, I will never use any other exhaust except Borla!!!..OH: It does not sound like a motorboat'.....

i bought the borla s type 2 for my c6. To me it's just perfect. No drone while driving at all but when ya stomp it down it roars. It's like having the best of both worlds. I can try to make a short video if interested

Default Clearance Borla S type

I just installed the Borla S type and I am having an issue with clearance on the driver side heat shield. Has anyone else had this issue? I have used a bar to pry it away tighten everything up. But it wants to spring back. Any suggestions?

Bend the heat shield more. My muffler guy had to put some pressure on the shield to get clearance.

I thought about putting a little bend in the heat sheild..I could move the pipe fairly easy with a small bar it just wouldn't stay.

Ok so I used some tie down straps with all the bolts loose…….I held the mufflers in the center with one strap. I pulled the pipe away from the heat shield …..about a one inch gap. Then I tapped it with a rubber mallet. After tightening all the bolts ….then loosening the straps. It sprung back a little and I now have a half inch clearance.😄. Yeah……I am a happy guy. Oh… and the exhaust sounds awesome! Thanks guys just one more option to try!

I have a Borla Atak system that I will be taking off soon and putting up for sale if you’re interested. They are in near perfect condition.

Too loud? Video clips I have listened to sound too much like a damn diesel truck.....not the right sound for a Corvette.

Well the car is still in the shop but I assume it’s going to be a little louder than I’m wanting with the new cam. I drove it for awhile with long tubes and the Ataks and I didn’t think it was too loud but with the new cam it might be. Mostly changing to the NPP mufflers because I plan on taking a lot more road trips in it.
