Default Lifter install query.

swapped my lifters out the other day, and did a search on which way the oil oil should face, seen a few, but nothing definite, so i decided the hole should point to the rear of the engine, the ones i took out, point down or away from the cam. these ones could only install with the hole facing forward or rearward. i m sure it probably does not matter, they are in and the heads are on, heh, should finish up this evening, installing everything else tonight. and hopefully a good sound when fired. another query, change the oil before firing it or, fire it run it a bit and get the oil warm and dump it out ? just thinking if warm up, then all the left overs are through the engine, if before, only oil is coming out and no debris, what to do ,, sigh.

Default Oil hole

Take a look at some link bar type lifters photos the link bar faces towards cam so that will give you an idea if hole is on link bar side then hole should face towards can.

It doesn't matter which way they point. They get oiled either way. That whole middle section of the lifter is surrounded by pressurized oil.

the hole can t face the cam, either front or back, they only go in the tray 2 ways, not 4 way.
