Just bought a set of race star wheels, which likely will not clear my OEM z06 brakes without a wheel spacer. Originally I was going to use a bolt on spacer so that I can swap back and forth between my street wheels and strip wheels, but am still considering installing ARP or DRM extended studs. Does anyone have a DIY or quick writeup on how to install the rear studs? Do you have to remove the whole hub or can that be avoided? Thanks
Because of the increased length I doubt you will be able to wiggle them in. You will need to remove hub bearings. Ideally you will want to support flange when you press or drive studs out. Use lug nut and washers or spacers to draw stud into flange. A vise will work if you don't have access to a press to support flange. If you try to just "blast" them out or in without supporting flange; it possible to damage bearing or bend flange.
I installed ARP's on all four corners of mine when I was running the OEM wheels with spacers. I was able to install the much longer ARP's by modifying the ebrake plate in order to do it.
Hard to explain and I have no pics but where the cable goes into the brake housing (backing plate) I enlarged the hole and spun the hub around to align and fit each stud. For me, it was much easier and less of a pain than pulling the hub, axles, etc.

I understand that. How does the cable fit snugly back into the hole after you enlarged it though? Or does it not? Did you just hammer them out?

Well for me it was a non-issue as I went with a Wilwood 4-piston kit and 2pc rotor that eliminated the ebrake. Should have mentioned that in the beginning.
I believe there's plenty of room just under that same area that could be opened up to accomplish the same thing.
