Hey everyone! First post here and a new corvette owner. I have an 08 c6 z51 and have a couple mods but nothing serious. I have lg headers and npp exhaust with mild to wild. It has also been tuned. When I bought the car the exhaust sounded amazing very deep and throaty through all rpms when the exhaust was open. Recently I have noticed that it starts out loud and aggressive but gets quieter after a few miles until I rev it a little or get a good back fire. It's almost like it's only coming out on the one side just not loud like normal. Not sure if I'm explaining it right or if it's my imagination or if it's common. But I def can tell a difference when it's not slightly muffled. Thank you any advice would be helpful. I also just move to Indy so if you know any good mechanics or performance shops let me know I would like to get her cammed as well.
sounds like the mild to wild switch isn't working but the system is doing what it's supposed to do.
the NPP should be quiet until you step on it or rev it higher, that way you don't go nuts on a 2hr highway cruise. best of both worlds.
the mild to wild switch bypasses that and you can force it open at all times.
take the 10amp NPP fuse out and see if that brings the sound back

Do you think that would still be the issue as it seems to be intermittent? I feel if the car back fires or i rev it a little it goes back to that nice loud growl. I never really drive it closed so not used to that sound so it could very well be going backing and fourth and i don't know it and could be exactly what i am hearing. I just hope it isn't anything major has me worried a little to drive it.
well pulling the fuse and trying it woudl certainly get us a bit further. if it's always loud afterwards then it's likely the switch or wiring. maybe a partial break in the wiring of the mild to wild set up. pull the fuse for starters and let me know
Thank you for all the help. I have taken the fuse out and ran the car a few hundred miles. I am still getting the intermittent muffled sound. I really was hoping that it was the mild to wild switch but i dont believe it is. Any other ideas ?
