Default PCM/ECU Swap

Does anyone know what all is involved with doing a PCM/ECU swap?

Its my understanding that the 08 and older PCM's only support up to 63.5# injectors.

Even with my tune scaled 50%, I'm still over the 63.5# limit and looking into swapping to an 09+ module.

I'd like to know if anyone has done swap and what was involved with it? Did you lose any functionality in the vehicle such as cruise control, etc...

Its also my understanding that 09+ models support up to a maximum of 127# injectors.

There is absolutely no reason to change ECM's just for the size of injectors you want to run.

There are multiple ways around the size limit, all of which work perfectly fine.

The easiest way is to just double the stoich AFR table and cut the actual injector flow rate in half. Done.

That's it.

If you need to go even larger than that (which is ~127lb/hr on early E38's), then you can scale all of the airflow tables/references and do it that way.

Or, you can even do both if you want..

There really isn't a reason to swap out ECM's for this

I run 130+ lb injectors on a stock 06 ecu. Zero issues. You can swap, I have an 08 ecu in garage but since my car runs perfect why mess with it.
