Default Lingenfelter converter box

Anyone running a LPE converter box? Curious how reliable they are? I'm dropping an LS3 in my C5Z and was planning to run one so I don't have to pull the motor apart and change the reluctor wheel.

I ran one. Hated it. It kept losing signal around 5500rpms. I ended up having to pull the crank and swap reluctors.

Good to know. Was your box one of the first generation boxes or a newer one?

Yeah, I just hate opening up a motor with only 48 miles on it!

Yeah is there any other options. I remember the guys at efi connection had some great wiring solutions. Maybe there will be others that will chime in with other options/opinions. Possibly the guy above got a bad one.

Been there, done that - save yourself the aggravation and do it right while the motor is out.

I did an LS7 swap for a friend's 2005 a few years back and the idiot at the machine shop knew he was supposed to change the reluctor wheel but forgot and I ended up not discovering this until after the motor was installed and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fire up.

We tried using the Lingenfelter box and it ended up being SOOOO unreliable that I had to pull the motor to have the proper reluctor wheel installed.

Were you using the newer version that has a separate power source to the box? Seems the first version had overheating issues due to how the box was powered which would cause it to shut off. I certainly don't want it doing that all the time.

There was only one version of the box at the time I tried using it.

Good to know. Sounds like you experienced what a lot of others had been through which was corrected by LPE. Thanks for your feedback
