Exhaust sound

I have a 07 Base, with just a few extras, Vararam CAI, Diablew Tune, and a Borla type II axleback exhaust system. My exhaust sounds a little funny to me, kind of like, for lack of a better word "garbled". Am I just hearing things or does someone else know what I'm hearing? I would love to put some headers on it but I live in the wonderful state of California, which leads to my next question, I don't think that Shorty headers will give me much if any more performance but would they improve the exhaust sound? Appreciate any wisdom.

Don't do shorty's not worth the effort but you could do zo6 manifolds and x-pipe and pick up 15 hp and still be legal lol

You would have to adapt them down to your borla's

Thanks, off the top of your head would any of the C6 Z06 manifolds fit?

You want to stay with 05 to 08 because the x pipe has a different angle at the back on the later pipes but the smog police will have to look real close to see that the manifolds are not original..
