2006 LS2 Base Brake Question
18 x 9 front with 265/35 Nitto NT05R's
18 x 10.5 rear with 305/45 Nittos
has anybody installed a BBK on this set-up ? If so how big can you go. Can't find the specs on line and I can't measure them I am at work in Saudi and want to order before I fly home.
Thanks in advance
So unless you going to add tires with more grip, then all the better brakes will do is allow you to get to the point that the ABS kicks in with less brake pedal push isntead.
Truth is, with the Nitto NT05R, your base brakes still have more gripping power than what the tires need to lock up, so you will still be able to lock the tires up with the base brake system and get into the ABS system.
If you are unable to get the tires to lock up and get into the ABS system with ease on the brake pedal, then start with power flushing the old contaminant fluid out of the brake system, and replace it with fresh fluid isntead. Then at this point, you can be the judge of the pedal sensitivity of how much pressure is needed to lock the tires up.
As for pedal feed back and initial bite, here it comes down to the pads in play, and if you are using cheap ceramic pads, then just upgrading them to say J55 HD pads will make a huge difference instead with feed back and intial bit.
Bluntly, on Vet, until are are running R6 tires kind of grip and pushing the brakes on a high speed road course over and over again to get to the point of brake fad and boiling the fluid, even the base brake system has more than enough grip to get any Dot tire to lock up in street use with fade or boiling probelms instead.
And no, you don't want to run race brake pads on the street, since you will never get them hot enough to come on line fully (full grip) isntead. Hence the heat to the pads does not come from the speed to get them up to temps, but using them over and over again rapidly to get the rotors and pads hot instead.
So even if you are running at 175mph+ for long runs, you still don't want race pads, since the long fast runs with you off the brakes is going to keep the rotors and pads cool at street temps, and at most, just want an autocross tire that will allow the pads to run a the slightly higher temps when needed, but still come on line fully with full grab at the standard street temps as well.

As far as your original question, the manufacturer of the desired brand of brakes would be the logical source of technical and dimensional information. I'd suggest acquiring similar data from the wheel manufacturer.
