I have a 2013 Grand Sport that has an intermittent air conditioner problem. I always leave the climate control in "auto" mode set to a fairly low temp, like 65. When I get in the car (its been 90 or higher outside everyday) the air conditioner won't come on unless I turn the climate control off and on again. This occurs about 80 percent of the time. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance! Rick

My 08 has the same problem, has been doing it for a couple of years. If I don't use the Auto mode it comes on maybe 70% of the time??...I.ve read on this forum that it is the HVAC unit $$$$$.

Thanks Cherokee. I drove up to the lake yesterday and I noticed that I'm unable to make the air come out anywhere but the upper vents. I can't switch the air to the floor for example. Have you noticed your car doing that as well? Thanks.

That "usually" indicates bad mode curtain actuators, but......with your other stated issue I think your best bet would be take it to a dealer and have the HVAC codes checked with a Tech II. I say dealer and a Tech II because most consumer grade scanners don't read HVAC codes.
Anyway, I think you may have at least an HVAC head unit issue and possibly a mode curtain issue also but you have to narrow it down, hopefully with the trouble codes.
has the car had a dead battery recently? sometimes resynching the mode doors will fix it. if it works at all i would try that or have them synched at the dealer but usually can be done in 5 minutes at home without any tools.
