Default Metal tray under trunk area

As some of you may know, I have a huge drone problem now after dropping in my 408 stroker...I'm under the car and plan to add some acoustic barrier stuff and noticed this plate.. I'm assuming it's to act as a heat shield, but I'm thinking this is a big contributor to the drone, I have a convertible and it's unbearable even with the top down!

Pretty sure its just a heatshield. I removed it once for some track passes and didn't notice any difference but that's probably because I pulled the mufflers out of it too. If I remember correctly its just 4 bolts holding it on and it comes out.

You're probably right that that shield is the culprit. I wouldn't pull it off and toss it though. Maybe just get some hi-temp sound deadener and paint that on both sides?

I did remove it and installed BoomMat tunnel and shield insulation, and I didn't reinstall the metal plate. Also added road kill sound dampener to the trunk, it killed drone and vibration by about 25%,
