Get a 2006 or up diff. You will also need the piece between diff and trans. Zip products has it in their website.

I agree with Tim here. OP there is another option with 05 C6 diffs, the tail housing on the trans is the same as a C5 Z06. One problem with this is that the C5 Z06 diff does not fit the C6 cradle. There are a few guys that have made adapter mounts for the C5 diff to fit the C6 cradle. All in all replacing the 05 C6 tail housing and adding a 06+ rear diff is the more costly swap ($300-$500 more) to me it's the best option. I'm in the same boat, I have an 05 C6 with roughly a 500 rwhp combo and I won't replace my diff until it breaks. Good luck.

Thank you for your valuable input! I have been researching this issue and this appears to be the best route and least expensive!

You failed to identify which transmission the car has, but I ran 550 rwhp thru a 6-speed for 76k miles with no issues. But, I did not beat on the car at low speeds. No burnouts, etc.
Than being said, my new set up makes 711 hp and I just completed a Z06 transmission and differential transplant. Bolt in easy.

Sometimes the stupidity of GM is amazing. The 05 C6's made 50 more horsepower than the C5's, yet they saved $4.56 in aluminum per car with a thin case differential, destined to fail. The differential case on the 05's is thin by design and GM realized prior to the car being released they had an issue. There is a software program in the 6-speed cars called "torque management". It basically limits the power the (stock) car can make in 1st and 2nd gear. Even with this "fix" they still experienced many differential failures, some catastrophic, taking the transmission with it.

I feel GM should have recalled all the 6-speed 05's and installed the stronger differential.
