Default Help: P0340 CEL code

I was tracking my car (05 C6 base) a week ago and the Check Engine Light came. I did 3 more sessions that day and then drove 1.5 hours back home. The whole time the engine ran great with no issues. Today I had an auto parts store pull the code and it came up P0340 Camshaft Position Sensir A Circuit (Bank 1 or Single sensor). What does it mean and how can I clear it ?

You will have to replace the camshaft position sensor, which has likely failed or the connector has come loose. Only then will you be able to clear the light. I had one fail on my Pontiac, and it didn't cause any issues for awhile, then it started to have issues turning over but not firing right away.
I replaced it, then all issues went away including the CEL

Are you hearing any tapping or strange sounds from the top of the motor? When you pull the sensor check for physical damage that would indicate a cam bolt backing out. Not unheard of even on stock ls2s.

The Check Engine Light went off after a few start/stop cycles so I'm not going to worry about right now as car is being stored for winter.
My LS2 is not stock. Speed Inc replaced the cam and all valve train in the spring of this year.

I was going to say that ther car isn't making any strange noises but it did start making an unusual noise about 1 week before the check engine light came on. The noise only happens when making a left turn at moderate to high speeds and sounds more like an exhaust leak. I initially thought it was from running new 265/40-19 Michelin PSS tires that are over sized on 2008 split spoke wheels. That noise when away when I was tracking the car 1 week later.

The westher is still nice yoday today so I'll take if for a drive and see if any more clues surface.

thanks. Very helpful. I'll check for loose sensor bolts and harness. If the problem resurfaces or requires the timing cover to be removed I'll take it back to the speed shop.
