C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it -
Reason I asked about the gears was that I have been trying my best to decide between the 3.42 and 3.15 ratios and a 3200 YANK stall (been seriously leaning towards the 3.42 gearset for this A6) -
Seeing the video of yours launch, run through the gears (1-4) and listen to it go through the lights - I think I have made up my mind now for the 3.42's and YANK 3200 (although you are running the 3400)
Very cool - by the way I still cannot believe no one has picked up your 2.73 rear in the F/S section, even with all the price drops
Thanks again and a great N/A combo for sure!
Thanks,Matt

your car is running awesome and mid 10s is flying for a nice N/A street car but I have to tell you how jealous I am of the way your car shifts. Who does your trans tuning? It sounds dead on at every shift.

The problem is that a 2.73 gear is good as a replacement for a broken 2.73 or 2.56, but not as a performance change from either a 2.56 or 3.42. A converter with either gear would be much better for the same money. The 2.56 can cross the stripe at the high end of 3rd, while the 3.42 finishes the same in 4th. The 2.73 requires a shift around the 1000' mark and runs the last 300' at the low end of the HP curve. It also provides virtually no SOTP difference on the street. I'm not trying to say the 2.73 is a horrible gear, but just that selling one won't be quick and easy.
The seat of the pant does get a kick with the 3.42 lol.
I have to see a log first but if the 3.73 gets me thrue the lighs at 7 / 7.2 in 4th I may have to hide this one from you all lol.

awesome pass congrats! It looks like you may have a little more in it, the launch seems soft. Have you tried coming out harder or are you maxed out with your converter?

Hi Joe unfortunately I haven't seen any videos published by streetcadrags and likely won't see any as the Maclaren I beat is owned by the race promoter ouch.

Wow U Rocked the Clock
Hello all I picked up this 2011 grand sport A6 Dic 10 2014 been working on it ever sense.
I set out to make it a 10.5 street car stock block stock cubes and got my wishes confirmed today at streetcardrags day at Palm Beach international raceway.
Here are the mods;
Heads and cam, headers, cold air intake and Yank 3,400 stall converter.
Factory intake manifold and throttle body ported by me, I did all the work (nobody better not touch my car)
No power adders.
The races against two GTRs
a Mclaren a hell cat 834 whp on that puppy, modified M4 and a ctsv and others ten passes total.
The fastest two cars I raced were the black GTR with upgraded turbos & E85 and the
Hell cat. They both red lighted against me and the GTR stayed out front.
best zero to 60 1.528
best 1/8 mile 6.760
best 1/4 mile 10.534
other passes 10.567 10.579 10.534 10.546 10.576 10.549 10.549 again 10.541 and 10.771
best mile per hour 130.04
lowest mile per hour 128.85
Will post some vids and time slips later.
All in all a great day and very happy.

Bought 2011 GS a few months ago. Owner had American Racing Long Tubes and high flow cats installed and the Vararam CAI. This was done at Carlyle show back in 2014. The tune was done at the show by East Coast Superchargers. This was a dyno and it was a canned tune that they brought with them.
They did not install a 160 degree stat and not sure if they did anything for throttle response etc.
It seems to run okay, however I do notice a smell when the window is down and when I pull it back into the garage. Exhaust at the rear does get some black on the inside tips. Read that high flows will allow smells and realize headers generate more heat/smell.
This is a 6M trans with 11K miles on it. I don't run it at track and only on the street so not sure the present tune should be changed.
I did read some posts that a good tune with these bolts on items should reduce the smell etc.
I do not plan any other performance mods.
Can you provide me a phone number so I can contact you regarding a tune.
