Default Evap Solenoid Delete

I saw a few posts about this that were pretty old and no one had any long term results/issues posted but I wanted to go ahead and make a new thread on the subject.

Anyone remove the evap solenoid on the pass side cylinder head and had any issues? I'm either going to relocate or delete it based on the replies I get.

Thanks!

Read conflicting things in removing it so I just moved it to clean thing up and make them look decent.

Took me a second to even find it under there. Very nice! I'm relocating my battery so I think I'll stick it over there somewhere so that I don't run any of the issues that I read about as well.

I was just going to use the intake manifold port as my vacuum source for the fuel regulator if I could free it up without having to use a tee.

Thanks!

I deleted mine a couple years ago. No problems other than a "check gas cap" light a couple times a year. Used the vacuum port for my BOV.

Yah, you will get check gas cap every once and awhile when it tries to run the evap test. No big deal, but annoying enough to me to plug mine back in. Mine is also relocated like Canuks.

Thanks guys. I'll just be relocating it either like realcanuk and unreal or to my vacant battery tray along with the catch can.

I have had mine unplugged for a while now, haven't noticed any check gas cap errors but maybe it's different on 05's. Just disabled codes

I likely wouldn't see the message if it came up because of the dash logic anyway.

Guess I'll try it out. Worst case scenario seems to be fuel smell when it is hot but I could deal with that. We will see how much I feel like rerouting it after I unbolt it I guess

Default Evap Solenoid Delete...

What? that crap is gone! just don't plug the tubing on the fire wall you won't get any check notice.

I make my own engine evac system oem is full of breathing restriction and definitely compromised as it contains oil going to the combustion chambers, catch cans is only a band aid requires service and is on the way.

Really don't see any advantage to removing it. It can easily be moved out of sight if that make one feel better.

Car runs a evap system pressure test under certain conditions. Normally outside temp has to be ~60-80 or something, and certain barometer. Thats when the check gas cap conditions pop up. You can drive all summer or winter long, and never see it because car doesn't run that check then.

Capping that line, or not doesn't effect it.

Anyone have the connector part numbers to fix or replace the hoses on the front and rear lines to the solenoid? Mines been rigged and I would like to fix it. I get a P0452 code and figured I'd start there first.

Does anyone have a layout of the EVAP system? I unhooked my solenoid a long time ago and capped the line by the firewall. It's been fine for a few years but recently on a hot day I had an issue with a lot of pressure building up in the gas tank and I'm not sure if this could be the cause, maybe a bad vent solenoid or something else. Thanks!

I would check your gas cap for starters. It should vent when over pressurized. Next I've hear it both ways but seems to me I would uncap the evap tube on the firewall so it will vent as well but I would try to find some kind of mesh cap to keep dust and debris out as much as I could. That's just me though.

My concern was venting fuel fumes under the hood of the car... Was considering unhooking the back end of the that line and venting closer to the charcoal canister. Any thoughts on this?

Also I was fairly certain that our caps are ventless since it relied on closed system to work this through the charcoal canister for emission reasons.

Being that the rear solinoid vent vavle is going to close when you start the car, the front evap needs to vent to allow air into the tank as the fuel is pumped out.

So it can be removed if push comes to shove, but your going to have to shut off codes in the tune so you don't get DTC's isntead.

From some reading it looks like the solenoid (located in the back near the passenger side tank is "normally open" so if you remove the EVAP solenoid up front and want to make sure your tank still vents, you can just unplug the rear solenoid and it will always vent through the charcoal canister and the tube that connects to the tanks to each other and back out near the fill tube.
