CTec 3300 Corvette battery tender

Hi folks, looking at picking up a ctec 3300 Corvette tender from a C7 that plugs into the cigarette lighter. My question is the C6 does not have the outlet in the trunk like the C7 so will the cigarette outlet work? I've heard it's only powered when the vehicle is on? Thanks folks.

The C6 has 2 cig outlets. One below the AC controls and one in the center console.

I use the one in the center console.
