I have been googling and searching this forums for some answers on the LS3 intake. Right now, the intake is stock. Which seems to be fine for most people. But I can't find any real information on the FAST or Holley Hi-Ram.
I don't see much info for stock cubed LS3... mostly boosted ones as well.
Stock LS3 Intake
Ported LS3 Intake
FAST 102mm
Holley Hi-Ram
anyone have any kind of useful information for me? Right now the car is a cam only/full bolton M6. Trying to eek out whatever I can before I either boost it or throw on some heads.
The only thing that really works to improve the LS3 intake manifold is having the OEM manifold Modified by Gwatney performance. It actually works very well at a reasonable cost. But you have to go with Gwaltney. Good luck.
Those aftermarket intake manifolds don't really do anything on the LS3.

That's what I get here reading postings, but benefits the LS2.

Gwatney does not remove any of the supports. In fact they don't even really port match. All they do is add the radius bars which REALLY works. I guess I had an engine that really needed this mod because for $250 it made a HUGE difference up top. It was like WOW the first time I ran up to redline. Because I have a smaller cam my engine got really flat over 6100 rpm before this mod but after I added it the thing pulls like a banshee to 6700 rpm which is where I now shift. And it's still pulling hard!
The other one that does the radius rods and also adds all the port matching is a guy on FB called Rick Crawford. I would consider that the ultimate LS3 intake manifold mod for NA but he takes like 2 months to complete the job and I couldn't wait that long.
As far as all the other little porters that don't add radius rods, those 5 hp port jobs and not worth the time or $ imo.
Even then, if he is boosting it, I wouldn't even bother with the $250. It will make as much power as he wants with a blower. Spend the money on a meth system or something else.

"We install radius bars to the LS3 manifold to help the air transition from the plenum to the runner. Dyno tested to gain about 5rwhp on bolt on cars and 12-15 rwhp on cammed setups."

It's probably a good idea to make the decision of FI vs NA before you go any farther. The specs of your present mods may or may not be compatible with FI (the cam in particular), although I'd assume up to this point they fit fine for NA.
From what I've read, there is very little difference between porting the OEM manifold and any non-ported aftermarket one, so from a $/hp basis, porting seems the best. Unless you find independent comparison tests, it's pretty much a crapshoot who to pick. You might consider waiting until you've finished the head work, so the manifold will match the head ports.
I purchased a ported throttle body and radically ported stock LS3 intake from PeakSpeed. Started with a untouched 08 M6 coupe, gained 29hp in 3 hours. Cannot tell how much the tune did but I don't care I am a happy camper. RPM did the tuning if interested.
There metal bars that are installed inside the intake that redirect the airflow so they get to the plenum correctly, they don't look pretty but they are the really only proven LS3 intake manifold modifications that make real power. Pretty involved involved rivets metal and stuff.
Only 2 people do them. Rick Crawford & Gwatney.

The LS7 responds well to a Mamofied (ported by Tony Mamo) MSD intake.
I may be wrong but I believe the MSD does make more power and it moves the peek torque higher up the rpm range. If I'm right about that, I'm not sure the MSD is for me. I road track my car and coming out of alot of the corners the rpm is more in the mid range to upper mid range than up high. So I was thinking that the torque more at the rpm range of factory intake or the fast intake may be better use of the power for me.
I would like to see the LS3 intake with the rod treatment. If anyone has a pic, please post
Thanks
Roger

I've been debating on this mod for awhile. Plan on throwing a 150-200 shot on my cam/bolt on ls3. Will it be worth it? Or just let the nitrous do the work?
